This August has exploded with multi-species guide trips! I’ve had a blast returning to my roots and getting larger groups of people (more people means cutting down on per-person cost) some great catches outside of the musky realm.
With water levels finally coming down on both rivers, the walleye fishing has been especially great, and has featured at least one at 29″. In addition to the hot walleye bite, I’m also doing small mouth bass trips, with numerous catches in the 19″-20″ range. The bass fishing is good on both the St. Croix and Mississippi rivers. And if you’re into crappies, I’ve got those dialed in too. The G3 18′ Jon boat can reach spots on the river that many other boats can’t get to.
We’re catching a lot of fish on topwater baits too, which makes for a lot family fun. It’s one of the most fun ways to fish, in my opinion. But we’re also working jigging minnows, and bobber set-ups…whatever tactics we need to produce fish!
And remember, we can still go out and try for a musky or a northern pike. It’s your call.
